Linea Spindle in the production of lead-free brass valves
The manufactured machine is a linear multi spindle lathe for the production of lead-free brass components demanded by the valve market in order to comply with increasingly stringent international health and environmental regulations.
Today, we will cover and analyse this machine, its features and uses.
The features of this linear multi spindle lathe are perfectly suited to processing lead-free brass components, which are generally much more difficult to machine with cutting tools than leaded materials, (whether brass or and steel).
LET'S SEE IN DETAIL THE TYPE OF PIECE THAT IS PRODUCED, PRESENTED IN THIS ARTICLE ON OUR BLOG:
- Sector of application: hydraulics, or rather valve parts
- Material: lead-free brass type 511
- Raw piece is hot forged
The piece has a diameter of 80 mm and a length of 100 mm, while the maximum dimensional workable range is up to 100 mm in diameter and a maximum length of 120 mm.
The machine is equipped with two independent cup feeding systems, able to work with two different pieces simultaneously, if necessary.
The machine can perform internal & external processing on both sides of the piece. The machine can perform additional operations such as boring and simple and interpolated milling, thanks to its live tools installed on Y-axis units.
The finished pieces are unloaded onto two independent conveyor belts for the traceability of the two production lines.
WHY THIS MACHINE - ADVANTAGES
Having chosen the LINEA SPINDLE multi spindle, our customer can enjoy various advantages:
Precision and quality: in fact, the pieces require dimensional tolerances and surface finishes with very low roughness values, typically from grinding operations. These characteristics are obtained, thanks to:
- Structural rigidity: with LINEA SPINDLE having a total mass of almost 20,000 kg
- Machining with the piece rotating, and not with a fixed piece, as, for example, with a transfer.
- Thermal stability, which is extremely important for precision, guaranteed by LINEA SPINDLE’s integrated electro-spindle and tracked cooling system with linear motors.
Production flexibility: with a quick set-up time, the possibility of simultaneously working on two different pieces, allowing for cost-effective production of both small and large series, and unmanned production guaranteed by a tool wear and breakage control system.
Easier processing of materials such as lead-free brass, decisively much better than traditional transfer solutions, and efficient swarf management.
Of course, LINEA SPINDLE, like all SALA production machines, meets all industry 4.0 requirements.
