Working days are very often characterised by a succession of commitments. The era of Amazon, smartphones and the net evolving at a relentless pace has led the end buyer of a product to want it more and more quickly. It may seem to you that this text has nothing to do with this company, but in fact it does.
I'm tired of "that's the way it's always been done!" I have never thought of myself as an innovator, only as a deep connoisseur of my work. This has led me, almost unbeknownst to me, to be known all over the world for my turning machines. Throughout all this time, I have "clashed" with ideologies based solely on this phrase: "That's the way it's always been done...".
What does the market for specialised machinery for turning systems offer? Multispindle, single-spindle, CNC machines, transfer... What are the main characteristics of the most commonly used machines? And what, above all, are their limitations. Here is a brief overview that can help to focus on both the potential and the main problems of the sector.
> Is the Linea Spindle suitable for all situations? Linea Spindle is not the universal solution for all circumstances. For example, if you have to produce just one piece in very large quantities, with limited retooling, it is likely that traditional multi spindle machines offer better performance.
The cost per piece does not only come from the cycle time to machine price ratio. There are many other variables to take into account, especially when there are very large families of pieces, and various set-ups to organize. Among all the variables, it is particularly important to consider the retooling times. In fact, calculating cycle time alone is simply not enough.
Consider that there are other ways of working than the one you are simply used to. When you think about the cycles, and machining of a piece, there are now solutions that no longer need bar stock fed into the machine but can make use of pre-cut bar or pre-processed pieces. This is the Linea Spindle way, which is much easier to set up than on traditional multi spindle screw machines, and needs a lot less effort and training. This makes it extremely easy to use.
Finally, we can look forward to actually attending a trade fair in person! And the great news is that Sala Srl and its Linea Spindle brand will be at this year’s EMO Milan from 4th to 9th October 2021.
Linea Spindle: an idea, a design, an intuition, a real revolution. A design that came to life after forty years in which Gianfranco Sala, founder of Sala Srl, focused on turning machines working with vertical spindles arranged in line. These machines have conquered the valve market around the world thanks to their precision, production capacity and ergonomics. In fact, these features were the starting point to resolve the problems of many companies.
